Originally from the Bronx, New York, she brings over 13 years of legal and policy experience and provides personalized, bilingual services to clients from diverse backgrounds. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Florida A&M University College of Law, teaching Florida Wills, Trusts, and Estates. Her background includes public defense, legislative work, and leadership roles in government and corporate affairs. Karen holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Political Science from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law, and is dedicated to delivering thoughtful, strategic guidance tailored to each client’s goals.
Ruby Montes, Esq. is the Managing Partner of Heiress Law, a boutique estate planning, probate, and elder law firm serving clients throughout Florida and New York. With over 20 years of experience, she is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life planning with compassion and clarity. A Latina originally from New York and licensed in both states, Ruby works with diverse clients—including LGBTQ+ individuals, international families, blended families, and individuals with special needs—ensuring their unique needs are met with dignity and respect. She began her career in New York City, founded Wake Law in 2016 after relocating to Florida, and later merged her firm to form Heiress Law to expand access for underserved communities. An active community leader and mentor, Ruby is also a co-founder and former Vice President of the Tampa Bay Latin Chamber of Commerce.
